Olympic Athletes Featured on Special Australian Coins

The Royal Australian Mint is going to feature Australia’s prominent athletes, Thomas Fraser-Holmes, Melissa Breen and Patty Mills on the 2016 Australian Olympic Team Coins. This is a great way to support and motivate the Australian Olympic Team who are on their way to the 2016 Rio Olympics.Ace swimmer Thomas Fraser-Holmes was the first, in Adelaide, to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics. Melissa Breen is Australia’s fastest female sprinter of their Rio Olympics Team. Patty Mills is a two-time Olympic basketballer who has represented Australia many times in Olympics.
The coin will be made of 1 kilogram silver and gold blanks. The rare 1 kilogram gold coin would be awarded to the athletes if they win gold in their respective event.
The silver coins are priced at $2016 and the gold at $70,000.
